Shawna
Registered Dental Hygienist

Dentists in Edwards CO Team - ShawnaShawna is originally from Washington State and attended Wenatchee Valley College for pre-dental hygiene curriculum. Shawna became interested in dentistry in 1986 while working as a dental assistant in high school. Shawna went on to further her dental education and graduated from Yakima Valley College School of Dental Hygiene in 1992. After graduation, Shawna moved to Brunnen, Switzerland where she worked as a dental hygienist and fell love with the mountains. In 1996, Shawna moved to the Vail Valley and has worked with various periodontists and dentists throughout the valley. In addition to providing exceptional dental hygiene services with Vail Dentistry since 2006, Shawna has worked part-time with Dr. Reissner and Dr. Pomeranz of Professional Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, which has given her advanced experience with treating periodontal patients.

In her free time, Shawna enjoys the outdoors with her two sons and husband. She and her boys are avid snowboarders, telemark skiers, mountain and road bikers, golfers, and surfers. Shawna is also involved with several local charities and fundraisers, including Habitat for Humanity, Eagle County Charter Academy, Vail Valley Charitable Fund, Round Up River Ranch, and the Vail Valley Foundation.

Kelly
Registered Dental Hygienist

KellyKelly is originally from Hamburg, New York and has lived in the Vail Valley for 13 years. After graduating with her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University, Kelly went to ECC Williamsville College in New York where she completed her dental hygiene training. Kelly has since been practicing dental hygiene for the last 14 years and has been working with Vail Dentistry since 2005. Kelly has attended advanced dental training courses at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and JP Consultants, and is certified in periodontal laser therapy. In her free time, Kelly enjoys skiing, tennis, gardening and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Bethany
Office Manager and Registered Dental Hygienist

BethanyBethany Haerter was born and raised in San Clemente, California. After playing college volleyball for Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Bethany transferred to the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelors of Science Degree. Bethany attended the University of Minnesota Dental Hygiene Program and was honored with the 1998 Procter and Gamble CREST Oral Hygiene Excellence Award and was the recipient of the 1999 University of Minnesota Alumni Association Outstanding Student Award. It was during dental hygiene school that Bethany met her future husband, Dr. Jonathan Haerter. In 2000, Dr. Haerter and Bethany pursued their dream of living in the mountains and began practicing dentistry in the Vail Valley. Bethany has been both the office manager and a dental hygienist at Vail Dentistry since 2000, and has completed hundreds of hours of advanced training in both dental practice management and clinical hygiene practice.

In her time away from the office, Bethany enjoys snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, golfing, and spending time with her two daughters. Bethany is an active supporter of several local non-profit organizations and is currently serving on a board with the Vail Valley Foundation for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships which will be held in Vail and Beaver Creek.

Kimberly
Registered Dental Assistant and Treatment Coordinator

KimberlyKimberly is originally from Santa Cruz, California and has lived in the Vail Valley for 15 years. Kim graduated from Cabrillo College and pursued a career in dentistry working as an Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgical and Anesthesia Assistant prior to moving to Colorado. Kim’s extensive experience in dentistry has been a great asset to Vail Dentistry since 2008. Kim is a certified Expanded Duties Dental Assistant and also a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. In addition to being an excellent dental assistant, Kim has also consulted in other dental offices throughout the country. In her free time, Kim enjoys mountain and road biking, hiking, traveling, and cooking. Kim is also passionate about giving back to those less fortunate in the community and is has started such programs as “Giving the Gift of a Smile” which allows people who cannot afford dentistry to get dental services.

Colleen
Registered Dental Assistant

ColleenColeen was born and raised in the Vail Valley and graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1994. She pursued dentistry in 2001 and has worked with Dr. Haerter as a chairside dental assistant since 2006. Outside of work, Colleen is very active with her husband and 3 sons.

Samantha
Registered Dental Hygienist

Samantha

Samantha is originally from Comanche, Oklahoma and moved to Texas for college. She first attended Vernon College on a rodeo scholarship where she competed in barrel racing and breakaway roping. She then moved to Amarillo, Texas to pursue her dental hygiene education. She graduated from Amarillo College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. During dental hygiene school, Samantha went to a mission trip to Nicaragua where she and 13 other classmates were able to treat over 400 children’s dental needs in one week. In May, 2011, Samantha married her husband Cody, who is a Vail Valley native. They both enjoy riding horses and traveling to compete in rodeos.
